Peking University, March 16, 2017: On the afternoon of March 16, Ms. Esther de Perlaky, International Employer Liaison Manager from the University of Warwick, along with Ms. Chris Fenton, expert in innovative entrepreneurial education, paid a visit to Peking University. Professor Zhang Lixin, officer of the PKU Student Career Center, and Professor Zhang Haixia from the School of Electronics Engineering and Computer Science, exchanged ideas with the visitors on the cooperative student guiding project Get ahead, at the Student Career Center.

At first, Ms. Esther de Perlaky gave a presentation of two completed online courses featuring students’ innovative entrepreneurship and career planning. Professors present offered several suggestions based on their working experience.

In the discussion that followed, Professor Zhang Lixin talked about deepening cooperation between the two sides. Zhang noted that according to the goal of training future leaders set by PKU, student employment guidance should focus on students’ consciousnesses and abilities in the face of globalization. PKU has already made efforts, including offering the first domestic bilingual student career guiding course on the massive open online course (MOOC)platform edX, launching the groundbreaking International Organization Employment Website, and compiling the first textbook on international organization employment. The Center is more than glad to deepen cooperation with the University of Warwick hereafter to develop students’ intercultural skills and entrepreneurial ability, to foster international teaching staff, and to establish a cooperative guidance platform for exchanging ideas and information on employment. It is foreseeable that long-term contact be established to explore a new model of career guiding and innovative entrepreneurship service for university students.
