Mar 21, 2017

Peking University, March 19, 2017: On March 10, 2017, led by key members of New Youth Cyber-Culture Studio, nearly 40 students from different colleges of Peking University visited the headquarters of Sougou, Inc. in Beijing. In order to help the youth grow and develop in the Internet era, New Youth Cyber-Culture Studio started the project of visiting internet giants at the end of 2015, and had sent its members to visit Sohu, Baidu, and Headlines Today since then.

As a well-known corporation in the field of Chinese search engine, Sougou has made great achievements by integrating various resources. New Youth Cyber-Culture Studio hoped that through the visit, PKU students could know more about Internet and IT workers, keeping abreast of the latest development of Internet.

The students are shown the working environment

Led by the guide, the students first had a look at the working environment of Sougou. The comfortable and graceful environment, as well as the dedicated workers, earned the students’ praise. After the general visit, the students got a closer acquaintance with the overall atmosphere of the corporation and the enterprise culture. The sense of distance between the students and the corporation gradually diminished.

Then the Director of Human Resources of Sougou had a further communication with the students. He mentioned that the corporation had insisted on technology-orientation. Later, PKU alumni who were working in the corporation introduced their own experience on job-hunting and becoming mature after graduation. In the interacting time, the student put forward many questions, which were then answered patiently by the alumni.

The PKU alumni are sharing their experience

After the visit, many students said they benefited a lot from this activity. The face-to-face communication with the workers could help them have a more comprehensive knowledge of Internet industry, enabling them to plan careers more scientifically. In the next stage, New Youth Cyber-Culture Studio would try to explore social resources and promote normalization of interaction between the university and the corporation so as to make the youth achieve self-discovery, self-education, and self-realization.
