Seminar on the spirit of the Sixth Plenary Session of the CPC’s 18th Central Committee held

Peking University, Nov.10, 2016: On the evening of November 4, the seminar to learn the spirit of the Sixth Plenary Session of the Communist Party of China(CPC)’s 18th Central Committeewas held in the 407 room of Lijiao Building. Alternate Member of the 18th CPC Central Committee,Chairman of Peking University Council, Zhu Shanlu, many other school leaders and altogether around 400 peopleattended the seminar,The seminar was hosted by Zhang Qingdong, director of Office of Student Affairs.

The seminar wasto learn and convey the spirit of the sixth Plenary Session of the CPC’s 18th Central Committee. Also as the working conference of the branch committee, the seminar was intended to deploy the ‘studies on the theoretical and practical issues of party building’ task.
 
Professor Zhu introduced the affairs and work summarized in the sixth Plenary Sessionof the CPC’s 18th Central Committee. Combining with ‘Three Important Speech, Two Important Documents, One Important Decision’, Zhu analyzed the very spirit of this Plenary Session and gave his answers to the questions proposed by the directors of the branch Party before the seminar. Zhu then demonstrated the significance of learning the speech made by President Xi in order to push forward the comprehensive and strict governance of the Party as the topic of the sixth Plenary Session.

In combination with the concept of ‘qi’ in ancient Chinese, Zhu illustrated the interdependent relationship between the vital qi, the Party and the primary qi the people. While the vital qi was the leader and spirit of the primary qi, the primary qi was the origin and base of the vital qi. Zhu then contended that the ‘Principles’ and ‘Regulations’ made at the Session were designed to allow the CPC to purify, perfect, reform and upgrade itself so as tocontribute to the promotion of the Party’s new cause and the development of socialism with Chinese characteristics.

Zhu also touched upon PKU’s splendid history and revolutionary genes with regard to the traditional spirit of Peking University, namely patriotism, progressiveness, and the intellectual freedom of democracy and science. Zhu hoped the student Party members could shoulder the responsibility of inheriting and realizing the PKU spirit.

At last, Zhu encouraged the backbone students to be models of good students and excellent directors, and furthermore to inherit and develop the tradition of PKU and live up to the expectations of state and nation.
