Peking University, Dec. 10, 2012: The “Renzhi-Weiying book collection” database established by Peking University (PKU) Library was released on December 6 to celebrate the 101th birthday of Mr. Hou Renzhi.

The database is named after Hou Renzhi, a prestigious historical geographer, and his wife Zhang Weiying. Mr. Hou is an alumnus and a professor of PKU as well as a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He is also famous for initiating China’s application for World Heritage.

Mr. Hou and Mrs. Zhang together donated more than 2000 volumes of books and over 300 maps to the library. Users can get access to the database by clicking the tag named “Hou Renzhi’s Book Collection” under the “Special Resource” column on the homepage of PKU library.
