“Sports Star“ Contest starts on campus

Peking University, Nov. 26, 2012: Themed on “Holding Dreams, Loving Sports”, the “Sports Star” Contest, a warm-up activity for the annual Campus Sports Grand Ceremony, was held in the square in front of Peking University (PKU) Hall on November 16, 2012.

 

The first round of the contest was in the form of bike-riding, which attracted almost 800 people to take part in, including students, faculty members and administrative staff. The activity lasted for 4 hours. The best result among male students was 1200 meters per minute, while among female it was 1000 meters per minute. There would be three more rounds later on. Participants who ranked highly after all the four rounds could get the chance to compete on the stage of Campus Sports Grand Ceremony and to win the title of “Sports Star”.

 

Aiming at stimulating PKUers’ enthusiasm for sports and spreading sportsmanship, the “Sports Star” contest set no bars for participants. Everybody can try it and have the chance to become the “Sports Star”. Participants said that this activity brought them a strong connection with sports.

 

The 1st Campus Sports Grand Ceremony will be held at PKU Hall on December 16, to award the sports stars of the year in the campus.
