To PKU News

If I should meet thee
After long years,
How should I greet thee?
With silence and tears.

                                                           — George Gordon Byron

The day I graduate from Peking University will come soon. Apart from the days I spent at Beida’s English Department, one of the places that I enjoyed most is PKU News. The weekly tasks, the monthly exchange meetings and the dining together…

Through these colorful activities, I met new pals and friends, also I gradually got to know the translation problems in my English learning. By and by, I knew the importance of dealing with my weekly task cautiously and responsibility; I knew the learning of English language and literature was quite different from English news writing. Being humble and careful was necessary when completing those tasks which seem easy at first glance. Excellent skills and language performance are required.

I know that all these things should further be trained in my future study. I also know that what I have done at PKU News is far from satisfaction.

Thanks for the forgiveness and magnanimousness when I had to delay the deadline. I also want to send gratitude to the editors who helped a lot in the weekly tasks and turning the translation works into perfect news. Thank you for your help!

Best wishes for you all!

Yours,
Chen Wei
