Peking University, Beijing, May 12, 2010: Fok Ying Tung Education Foundation (FYTEF) has recently published a list of young teachers in universities who have won Young Faculty Career Award and Optimum Subsidy Funding, among which nine are from Peking University - two get funded for Basic Research Projects, six for Application-based Research Projects and one titled Young Faculty Career Award.
FYTEF aims at sponsoring young faculty under 35 years old in universities. In this 12th Education Awarding, it provides fund for 111 Basic Research Projects, 46 Application-based Research Projects and entitles 100 people with Young Faculty Career Award (5 first prizes; 15 second prizes, 80 third prizes).
Fok Ying Tung Education Foundation was jointly founded by Ministry of Education and Dr. Henry Fok Ying Tung who, as a well-known entrepreneur in Hong Kong, donated 100 million HKD in 1986. As one of the earliest educational foundations in mainland China, whose aim is to advance education and to cultivate talents, FYTEF has made great contributions to awarding young faculty in teaching and research by setting up Research Fund for Young Faculty, which provides every project with US$ 5,000 — 20,000, and Young Faculty Career Award, which provides US$ 1,000 — 5000 to every teacher who makes outstanding achievements in teaching and research. This award has become one that attracts most attention and is mostly praised in China higher education field.
