Peking University, Mar. 26, 2012: The opening ceremony of the fifth Ganghua Industry Festival was held on the afternoon of March 16, 2012, the theme of which was “innovation, entrepreneurship and career development.”

Top executives and HR managers from more than 50 well-known enterprises attended the opening ceremony. They held conversations with leaders and student representatives of Guanghua School of Management (GSM) in a friendly atmosphere.

GSM Council Chairman Mao Dawei gave a keynote speech. He first expressed gratitude to the guests present, considering the support from the business world as a driving force of the development of business schools. This event in the past four years has been quite fruitful in that students get valuable information about different industries and internship opportunities through various activities throughout the festival, and thus can better prepare themselves for future careers. Then he added that innovation, part of the theme of the festival this year, was the slogan of GSM and would be implemented in many development projects of GSM, an example of which was providing literary and general-knowledge courses for MBA and EMBA students.

During the opening ceremony, the top favorite enterprises and the top respected enterprises were announced according to students’ voting and employment from previous years. Another highlight was signing agreement with 23 excellent enterprises managed by GSM alumni who will offer internship opportunities to students, which is very helpful as alumni resources are valuable in job hunting today. GSM has signed “intern base” contracts with about 88 top 500 enterprises home and abroad since 2009.

In the next two and a months, leading enterprises from eight industries such as Barclays Capital, Hony Capital, Mckinsey, Accenture, L'Oreal, Dupont, Siemens, Johnson & Jonson, Tencent and Vanke will give lectures, open workshops and offer some other opportunities for students to provide them with live experiences and help them set up long-term goals within the macroeconomic environment.

Popular among students, the Industry Festival is a key program of the Career Development Center of GSM and it has been successfully held for 4 times since 2008, from March to May each year. More than 150 well-known enterprises, over 2000 students have participated in over 200 activities.
