Zhou Xiaochuan: Characteristics of Multi-level Capital Markets

Peking University, June 11, 2012: On June 6, the 13th seminar of Peking University Capital Market Forum was held at Guanghua School of Management, PKU. Zhou Xiaochuan, Govenor of People’s Bank of China, talked about the characteristics of multi-level capital markets as the guest of the forum.

 


Zhou introduced the general principles of continuity and slicing of things, using examples in sports and basic mathematical principles, based on which and from various angles of the supply, demand, and trading mechanism, he described the multi-level features of products, trading, and structure in various aspects of capital markets, and revealed the principles and mechanisms of multi-level capital markets.

 
The lecture also covered a series of international and domestic hot-debated theoretical and technical issues, including system design, asset securitization, special purpose company (SPV), and financial innovation and risk management.

 

Zhou exchanged his ideas with the audience on asset securitization and capital constraints, the marketization of interest rate, competitive financial services of commercial banks afterwards.

Peking University Capital Market Forum was jointly hosted by Guanghua School of Management of PKU and the Research Center of China Securities Regulatory Commission. It aims at training professionals for capital market and providing young people with insights of the theories and practices in capital market. Since its launch, the Forum has invited many renowned experts in various fields to deliver a dozen seminars with different themes. Meanwhile, the Forum is also an elective course for students involved in MBA, Executive MBA, MPAcc, Master of Finance, EE and other projects.
