Classical guitar master stages at PKU Hall
May 20, 2012

Peking University, Apr. 15, 2012: A wonderful performance of "Time Arts Chamber Music Series" — Spain's top classical guitarist Jose Enriquez's solo concert staged at Peking University (PKU) Hall on April 12.

Jose Enriquez is one of the world's greatest guitarists, who plays perfect interpretation of classical guitar, one of the "world's three major classical instruments".

The concert consisted of two parts. The first part mainly focused on the music belonging to the 18th and 19th centuries. One of the most exciting parts was undoubtedly the opening of the Spanish Suite, along with Arabian Fantasy, the famous works of the classical guitarist Francisco Tarrega. With strumming and other skills to perform, Enriquez played out the erratic and elegant changes in the melody. His performance also extended to the whole range of the guitar cadenza, fully reflected the different characteristics of each guitar tone zone.

The second part focused on the modern repertoire. The master played the Sleeping Ship as well as his own creation To Meet. The Sleeping ship was adapted from a French pop music. Enriquez used the techniques of overtone to show the scene of a late-night boat quietly docked at the shore of the screen.

To Meet describes the scene to meet friends after a pleasant conversation. The atmosphere was so lively and warm that the audience could not help thinking of their own memories with their close friends.
