An Internationalized Campus Open to Embrace Global Opportunities

Peking University, Beijing, Apr.19, 2010: This year is the 60th anniversary of PKU to enroll foreign students, and it is also the first time for Office of International Relations to hold a campus open day for promising high school students who has shown great interest in PKU. The Open Day started at 8 a.m., and then students and parents poured into the square in front of PKU Hall, hoping to learn more about PKU taking this unique opportunity.

 

Campus features international show as bright spots

 

Office of International Relations made careful preparation this year to offer plentiful resources. The cleverly designed booth and manuals that highlighted the international education pattern, international faculty and vivid campus culture of PKU allowed candidates and parents a thorough understanding of PKU and impressed them deeply. 

 

Exhibition boards with strong visual impact and abundant materials were on the display which documented the significant events such as international celebrities’ visit to PKU, Beijing Forum, and Olympic Champion Forum. Besides, the materials distributed also hold information regarding to the successful projects like Peking University-Yale University Joint Undergraduate Program, PKU — LSE Summer School and International Cultural Festival, through which PKU students have enjoyed many opportunities in touch with the world.

 

 

Education Abroad Program attracts special attention

 

Many parents consult with Education Abroad Program (EAP). EAP was founded to help students form an international vision in a globalization age. Peking University has signed inter-school exchange agreement with more than 260 universities, including 68 regular exchange programs. Students have the opportunity to be an exchange student to foreign universities such as Yale University, Tokyo University, Waseda University, Sciences-Po Paris, and other world-class institutions for a period of six months to a year.

 

Meanwhile, PKU also signed exchange agreement with over ten leading universities in Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, and every year, nearly 100 students have the opportunity to study there for a semester. The booming Education Abroad Program has enabled students who entered PKU or who will enter PKU to stand on an international stage which is attractive to both students and parents.

 

Although the open day only lasts for one day, it has provided the first-hand information and shown its significant role to bridge the candidates to PKU.
