    Professor Fuqing YANG


    Professor YANG is currently a Distinguished Professor of Computer Science at Peking University.

     

    She is the Dean of Faculty of Information Science and Engineering, Director of National Research Center for Software Engineering, and Council  Chairwoman of School of Software and Microelectronics at Peking University. Professor YANG received her undergraduate and graduate degrees in Computational Mathematics at Peking University in 1955 and 1958 respectively.

     

    Professor YANG's main research areas are Operating System, Software Engineering, Software Engineering Environment, Software Industrialization Technologies, etc. She directed and built Chinese 1st mega-computer in 1974 and developed Chinese 1st operating system written in high level programming languages.

     

    Professor YANG founded the Computer Science Department at Peking University. During her tenure as the department’s chairwoman from 1983 to 1999, she successfully developed the department into a national top-ranked computer science program. She established the first software engineering program in China, and directed a national key software engineering research program, aka. JadeBird project, during 4 consecutive national 5-year planning periods. She also founded the National Research Center for Software Engineering and provided a functional and modular based process to incubate research results into products.

     

    Professor YANG emphasized the importance of strengthening interaction of education and industrial practice. She brought this idea forward with founding a new model of school: School of Software and Microelectronics, Peking University.

     

    Professor YANG has published more than 150 papers in journals and conferences, and authored 8 books. She has advised more than 100 graduate students including MSs, Ph.Ds, and postdoctoral fellows. She has received many top level rewards.

     

    Professor YANG has been a member of the Chinese  Academy of Sciences since 1991.

     

     


    Professor Yangyuan WANG

     


     
    Professor WANG is the Chief Scientist of Institute of Microelectronics, Peking University.


    He directed the development of the first three-type 1k MOS DRAM (polysilicon gate and N channel, polysilicon gate and P channel, A1 gate and N channel) in China, which was one of the pathbreakers of the Silicon-gate-N-channel MOS technology. He proposed a stress-enhanced oxidation model of polysilicon film to explain the oxidation characteristics, application equation and pointed out the relationship of doping concentration with carrier mobility, which provides a scientific prediction for the oxidation condition and doping  concentration of polysilicon films. He investigated the structure of the polyside and salicide of sub-micron & deep sub-micron CMOS ICS. He has proposed a floating-body model of SOI devices, extended the SPICE Simulating software for the SOI IC design and developed new SOI device structures. He and co-workers put forward a new analytical model for polysilicon emitter bipolar transistors and developed advanced polyemitter IC processing technology. He led the development of the first large-scale integration ICCAD system. Recently, he is researching innovative device structure, process and integration technology for sub-nanometer integrated circuits and MEMS. Prof. WANG was one of the founders to establish the Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation. The first massive 12" nano-scale IC production line in China was constructed successfully by Professor WANG.
    Professor WANG has been a member of the Chinese  Academy of Sciences since 1995.

     

     

     

    Professor Xingui HE  


     
    Professor HE was the dean of School of Electronics Engineering and Computer Science from 2002 to 2006.

     

    Professor HE received his bachelor degree from Peking University in 1960, later as a graduate student majored in approximation theory in the same university. In 1980s, as a visiting scholar, he had studied in database and database machine areas in Ohio State University (OSU). After graduation, he had workded as technician, engineering team leader, division director, chairman of science and technology committee of a department, in the Fifth Research Institute of the Department of Defense,the Seventh Ministry of Mechanical Industry (It was renamed as Department of Space Aeronautices later). In 1986, He joined the National Commission of Science and Industry Technology for Defense. He has been the chief engineer of the Beijing Institute of System Engineering (BISE), and the chief designer of the national project named "Common Military Computer Software" for a long time. Later, he was acting as the leader of software expert group of China Manned Aircraft Project, responsible for software quality assurance of the whole project.

     

    Professor HE has been a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering since 2001.

     

     

     

    Professor Sishen XIE  


     
    Professor XIE graduated (1965) in the Department of Physics at Peking University of China, and got his Ph.D (1983) from the Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). He is the adjunct professor of School of Electronics Engineering & Computer Science. From 1984-1986, he worked in the group of S.Geller (Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, University of Colorado, Boulder), as a postdoctoral fellow. In 1986, he joined the Institute of Physics, CAS.


    As the chief scientist of National Center for Nanoscience and Technology(Beijing), he directs the academic activities of the center. His main research interests include synthesis, structure and properties of nanoscale materials. His current research concentrates on one dimensional nanomaterials, such as carbon nanotubes, semiconductor nanowires, and oxide nanowires. He is the author or co-author of more than 250 SCI papers, which got more than 3500 citations in total. He has received several awards, including Nature Science Award of HLHL, ISI Citation Classic Awards (2000), a highly cited paper from 1981 to 1998, Nation Natural science and technology prizes of China.


    Professor XIE has been a member of the Chinese Academy of  Sciences since 2003, and a fellow of Third World Academy of Sciences since 2004.
