PKU Confucius Institute Reaches New Height

Peking University, Beijing, Dec. 11, 2008: 

At the 3rd annual conference on Confucius Institute on Dec.9th, four Confucius Institutes undertaken by Peking University, respectively, the ones at Ritsumeikan, Japan, Free University of Berlin, Germany, Specialist Schools and Academies Trust (SSAT) Confucius Institute in Britain and Confucius Institute at Chulalongkorn University in Thailand won the title "Advanced Confucius Institute ".

 

By far, China has established 305 Confucius Institutes and Confucius classrooms in 78 countries and regions, 20 of which are awarded "advanced" title this time.

 

Since 2006, PKU has cooperated with foreign universities and educational institutions to establish 9 Confucius Institutes.

 

In addition to the above four, there are also Confucius Institute at the University of Granada in Spain, Confucius Institute at Moscow State University in Russia, Confucius Institute at Cairo University, Egypt, Confucius Institute at Waseda University in Japan and Confucius Institute of Jawaharlal Nehru University in India.

 

At the 2nd conference on Confucius Institute last year, two Confucius Institutes held by PKU won the "advanced" title.
