Norway’s Minister of Health Speaks at PKU

Peking University, Beijing, May 7th, 2009: Bjarne Haakon Hanssen, Norway’s Minister of Health and Sanitation Bureau and Bjorn Skogmo, Special Adviser of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs visited Peking University Health Science Center (PUHSC) for the “China-Norway Primary Health Care and Global Health Seminar”. Ten other Norwegian ambassadors in Beijing were also present at the event. PKU’s Executive Vice President and PUHSC Associate Director Ke Yang, Vice Dean of PKU’s School of International Studies and member of UN Foundation’s Board of Directors Yuan Ming, and other leaders welcomed the international guest on behalf of the entire campus.

 

 

Ke Yang started the conference by welcoming the guests from Norway. She noted that Norway is known internationally for their experience and all-round policies in their Primary Health Care and Global Health System; and there was much that China could learn from.

Hanssen spoke on “Global Health Policies and Challenges Norway’s Health Policy are Faced With” after first thanking the audience for their warm welcome. The contents of his speech included the cause and effect the economic crisis has on both Global and Norway’s Health Care Systems; as well as the current situations and challenges Norway’s Health Systems face.

Yuan Ming shared on the topic of “Viewing Global Health’s Challenges from China’s Perspective”. She recounted the dynamic changes in China’s Health Care and expressed her faith in its future development.
