Peking University, Aug. 24, 2013: Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School (PKUSZ), which is located in Nanshan district of Shenzhen, welcomed its new inhabitants this week. 69 international students, from 30 different countries, came to further their study here, which makes the number of the international students up to 110.

With the guidance of the staff and senior students, international students registered successfully at the registration spot. Moreover, PKUSZ prepared manuals for international students, which were very handy for them. Gretta, an administrator from America, welcomed the arrivals of international students. ”After the registration, we will give guidance to international students in various aspects, such as buying furniture, applying for student ID and visiting Shenzhen.”

PKUSZ also provided the bilingual signs of the notice, the announcement and the road, the western snacks offered in the dormitory areas and bilingual service for the international students.

George, from Germany, will study management in HSBC Business School (PHBS) for his master’s degree. He has been learning Chinese for 6 months before his enrollment and he thought that this two-year study would provide an opportunity for international students to know China better.

Maria, also from Germany, is one of the international exchange students. She had been to Japan and South Korea and was fascinated by the Asian cultures, “PHBS exchanged Chinese students to Germany and other countries before. So when PKUSZ commenced enrolling exchanging student from abroad, I applied for it immediately.” She expressed her excitement. ”The amount of exchanging students should be enlarged to promote the communication among different cultures.”

Hai Wen, vice president of Peking University and chancellor of Shenzhen Graduate School, reaffirmed that PKU Shenzhen's goal was to build a world-class international PKU campus in Shenzhen.

This year PKUSZ received over 156 overseas applications and gained 110% increase compared with last year.
