Sending Love & Hope: Public Charity Forum for Beijing Universities Held in PKU

PekingUniversity, Beijing, Mar. 13, 2009: With the theme of “Sending Love & Hope”, the 2009 Public Charity Forum for Beijing Universities was held in Overseas Exchange Center of Peking University (PKU) in the afternoon of March 6 sponsored by PKU Students Service Team. Together with the public charity stars and teammates of PKU Students Service Team, the student representatives from Tsinghua University, Renmin University, Beijing Normal University, China University of Political Science and Law, and Beijing Jiaotong University attended the forum and exchanged their experience in carrying out public charity activities. Ms. Yang Aimin, Dean of PKU Student Financial Aid Center, also attended the forum.


On behalf of the PKU Student Financial Aid Center, Dean Yang Aimin congratulated the opening of the forum at first. Then, she introduced the center’s experience in teaching students who have gained assistance the theme of public charity based on the platform of PKU Students Service Team, and guided the team members to join the social charity activities. She also hoped that this forum could become a turning point for both the team members of PKU Students Service Team and the students from other universities to improve their communication and promote the development of the relative projects.


Then, the representatives of the charity stars and students from different universities made speeches. They talked about their own understanding of the spirit of public charity and shared the experience of charity work in their own universities respectively. In a comfortable and friendly atmosphere, the students presented found that the universities have different characteristics in doing charity activities. The communication can not only arouse inspiration, but also help to create common ground in the future organization of public charity activities.


The aim of this forum is to respond to the theme of “public charity spirit” proposed by President Hu Jintao when he visited the PKU on the eve of the 110th anniversary of PKU. It is also a useful attempt to implement the PKU Student Financial Aid Center’seducational idea, which is to guide the assisted students to change positively from receiving help to helping others, and to promote the communication between different universities.
